On February 17th, 2025, a visit took place at Bhuiyadih, Gamharia, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, where Ms. Pinky Sahu served as the tutor for 15–20 students. The visit highlighted a key issue: insufficient support from students’ families, which impacted their academic focus. Many students were heavily involved in extracurricular activities, diverting their attention from their studies. As a result, the tutor temporarily suspended extracurricular activities to prioritize academics.
To enhance engagement, Ms. Sahu employed interactive teaching methods, such as having students physically act out the components of levers—fulcrum, load, and effort—during physics lessons. This hands-on approach significantly improved student participation. Additionally, she is an active participant in regular Friday training sessions to further refine her teaching skills.
During the visit, Ms. Sahu requested better workload management, as she balances her tutoring responsibilities with her undergraduate studies at Jamshedpur Women’s College. The observations underscored the challenges faced by both students and the tutor, particularly the need for greater family support and a balanced academic-extracurricular approach. Overall, the session reinforced the importance of active learning and maintaining academic focus.
