Sahaaj Pathshala

Founded in 2010 as a Digital Literacy Mission (DLM), Sahaaj Pathshala began with a single classroom at NML Agrico campus, Jamshedpur. Dr Mita Tarafder, Founder Trustee and Chief of the Relearn Foundation, launched the initiative to deliver quality education and holistic support to underprivileged children while creating financial empowerment for women tutors.

What started with 3 students in 2010 has grown into a sustainable network of 45 community classrooms (as of FY 2025-26) across Jharkhand, Bihar, and West Bengal — nearly double the 23 classrooms operating in FY 2022-23. Each classroom serves 10-15 underprivileged students who receive free or low-cost education and counselling from Relearn Foundation tutors. These tutors, known as “Community Mothers,” nurture their students with maternal care.

Currently, over 800 students benefit from free books, notebooks, stationery, mobile devices for online learning, uniforms, sweaters, shoes, and medical support. Weekends focus on holistic development through English speaking, yoga, performing arts, gardening, and other extracurricular activities.

Five regional centres, managed by dedicated facilitators, oversee the classrooms and ensure consistent operations. Facilitators maintain direct contact with tutors to monitor class regularity and address needs promptly. All operations are managed through the Relearn Management Software (RMS). Tutors submit monthly attendance records via the app and receive online training in pedagogy, English, Maths, Science, GK, Innovation, and Health & Hygiene from expert educators and scientists.

Through Sahaaj Pathshala, the Relearn Foundation works to reduce dropout rates and absenteeism while fostering curiosity, confidence, and a spirit of scholarship in students.

This impact is made possible by the generosity of our members and donors — a testament on how kindness and empathy drive community growth and enrichment.
